A hair mask, shampoo, oil or maybe a hair balm? In what order should these cosmetics be used? See for yourself what a well-arranged care means.
Entering the woman’s bathroom is almost like crossing the threshold of a drugstore. Dozens of cosmetics stacked on shelves are a real madness. However, it is worth introducing a bit of order to it, which will positively affect the effects of care. Unwisely used cosmetics work less well, so it is worth remembering in which order they should be used.
A Hair Shampoo
When it comes to this cosmetic there are no doubts. A shampoo should always be used as the first step of your hair care to cleanse the scalp and get rid of impurities, sebum and to facilitate the absorption of nutrients supplied with a conditioner, oil or a mask. Sometimes shampoo is used several times, for example, to wash out the oil, so it is worth using cleansing products with a natural composition, without the content of strong detergents, alcohols, and preservatives.
A Hair Oil
The moment you use oils depends on the effects you wish to obtain. If you want to increase shine, protect it from hot air emitted by a blow-dryer, you should apply a small amount to wet hair after washing. However, it can be applied before shampooing if you are planning to perform full overnight hair oiling or hot oil treatment. It is recommended that you wash your hair first and then apply oil to the hair and scalp and wash out again in the morning. Why? any impurities or product buildup left on the hair can hinder the penetration of oils into the hair and weaken the effects.
A Hair Conditioner
This product is made to protect, smooth and beautify the hair after washing. We apply the conditioner after rinsing out the shampoo, to wet hair. Depending on the type of conditioner we chose, it is either necessary to rinse it or leave-in. It is a lightweight product and does not require shampooing once again.
A Hair Mask
Well-composed ingredients of the hair mask work similarly to hair oils – provide in-depth and intensive treatment. They must be applied after shampooing to allow the substances penetrate the hair deeper structures, reach the roots and the scalp. A hair mask should be left in the hair for about 30 minutes and then, rinsed out. One of the advantages of hair masks is that they can be homemade with ingredients present in every kitchen.
Ampoules and scalp lotions
These two types of products are dedicated to the scalp only. They usually have a liquid consistency and are well-absorbed. Therefore, they can be applied after washing the hair without the need to rinse. They are the last step in a hair care routine.
